Gemma Atkinson has been defended by fans after she declared: "I'm back!' The Hits Radio host was also flooded with praise and compliments as she gave a glimpse at her latest workout at her home gym.

Those who follow Gemma, 39, on social media know that she is very much into her health and fitness and during her second pregnancy last year she was honest about her keenness to get back into her gym routine once safe to do so after the birth of her son, Thiago, back in July.

The Bury-born star recently joked that it was Strictly Come Dancing star Gorka's fault that she was back for a new 12-week programme at Ultimate Performance Manchester with her trainer who she has dubbed 'Evil Steve' after her last three-month stint took place in 2017 before the couple welcomed their two children into the world - starting with daughter Mia in 2019.

In her latest post, however, Gemma was seen at her Greater Manchester home where she and dancer Gorka have built their own gym. She could be seen working up a sweat while doing weighted lunges, burpees and jump squats among other exercises.

"Aaaaaaand I’m back!" she started the caption of the post to her 1.9 million followers. "Feeling like I did, or dare I say even better than I did before having two babies. Being uncomfortable for 40 mins a day a few times a week beats being uncomfortable in your body your whole life.

"I feel strong again, I feel fit again and with the small changes I’ve been making and keeping consistent with after having Thiago, I feel like Me again (just a little more tired version)." She added: "Still continuing to challenge myself, push myself and work on myself. Excited to see what’s in the tank."

And her fans and followers were quick to respond with praise. @kaydean1282 said: "'40 mins a few times a week beats being uncomfortable in your body your whole life…….' These words are golden and exactly what I needed to hear today."

@siobhanwatts88 commented: "You look amazing. You inspire me to get fit again after the birth of my son." @mentalmia72 wrote: "You look amazing Gemma. Well done to you and your dedication to be the best you can. I am disabled, so I live the fitness lifestyle vicariously through you. Thank you."

But some were less encouraging. One comment read: "What women wants to look like a body builder," which quickly garnered a response from Gemma's fans and followers. @bordaletti_jo said: "What grown man wants to troll a young mum??"

@sophyshealthblog commented: "What about this looks like body building? And where the hell have you been? Women everywhere are lifting and strong as hell." @laurenharrington34 posted: "She looks wonderful and is an inspiration to others." @becolly_x added: "I don’t see why this comment is relevant. She’s promoting health & well being for women especially mums which is amazing. I think it’s great seeing women empowering other women."
