The conquest of Spain by the Moors brought Islam to Spain. Islam is an offshoot of Judaism similar to Christianity. However, Christians and Muslims clashed throughout the middle ages. The conquerors of Spain popularized Islam and built many mosques, also converting many to Islam. Islam lost popularity after the unification of Spain by the Christian government of Isabella and Ferdinand. #2B
