      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

While it may not be the definitive concert film (or the insightful backstage look) some will hope for, Michael Jackson's This Is It packs more than enough entertainment value to live up to its ambitious title.

Bruce S Amazing to see the master at work, can't believe he died within days, he looked on fire. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/30/23 Full Review Jack D Aside from the controversy behind this being made while Michael was literally working himself to death, seeing the master at work and absolutely kicking ass at 50 years old is a pure delight. Michael's artistry and brilliant mind is so fascinating and there will never ever be anybody like him, a true perfectionist and we see it in this documentary for every single song, every little detail and every dance move. He is just wonderful and his vocals during these rehearsals are just heavenly. Knowing Earth Song is the last song he ever sang, the night before he died.. speaks volumes. Michael you are deeply missed Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/29/23 Full Review liam k This movie was alright, and I am aware that it was not intentionally made with the intention of becoming a movie, but I feel like it might have been. If it makes any sense, I anticipated it to be louder than it was. The final 20 minutes or so, when there was more Michael and less of everyone else and everything else, were THE BEST part of the film. It was interesting to see what goes into a MAJOR event like his, and I'm sure it would have been AMAZING to witness the completed product. It was also admirable to observe his kindness and how he provided opportunities for his show's participants to shine. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/22/22 Full Review Rudy H. I have seen it many times, this film gives out peaceful heart to Michael Jackson and how we should heal it. This is like the best concert film ever!. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/22/22 Full Review CharGoesBOOM Absolutely fantastic, I don't even care what people say this is great! I watched it on both DVD and TV Demand, I can dance and sing with it. RIP MJ you are missed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/12/22 Full Review Audience Member LOL, the funniest of Michael Joseph Jackson (Born in 1958 in Indiana-Died in 2009 in California)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shadow and Act Staff Shadow and Act I think any fan of MJ’s will appreciate what "This Is It" offers – a glimpse of a Michael that I don’t think we ever really got to know, and the final steps of a genius, fully dedicated to his craft... Sep 13, 2022 Full Review Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online It's always inspiring to see a genius at work. And that's exactly how I felt watching Michael Jackson in This Is it--inspired. Rated: 6/10 Nov 29, 2020 Full Review Micheal Compton Bowling Green Daily News This is a film designed to give fans one last chance to see the Jackson they knew and loved. And on that level, "This Is It" succeeds - showing that Jackson still had it, even in his final moments. May 11, 2019 Full Review Kelly Jane Torrance Washington Times This Is It gives us a fuller portrait of the man and his passion than we've ever seen before. But don't think it lets us finally understand him. Rated: 3.5/4 Dec 1, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews
