Dwarf shrub 10-30cm high with stems spreading or upright, and branching freely. Leaves 5-30mm, hairy, orbiculate to lanceolate, mainly alternate. Flowers white or pink, often with yellow in the throat, 2-2.5cm long. Southeastern Spain, in rocky habitats. A.h. subsp. hispanicum, syn. A. glutinosum. Leaves lanceolate to broadly ovate, hairs short. Mainly from western half of its distribution. This is the plant most often seen in cultivation as A. glutinosum. It is easily grown but it may not survive severe winters. Propagation from cuttings is simple. Subsp. mollissimum (syn. A. mollissimum). Leaves broadly ovate to orbicular with long hairs on the stems and leaves. Mainly from eastern half of the species distribution.
