A rather untidy plant whose laxly leafy, 40-50cm long stems fail to remain erect as the season progresses. The leaves are ovate, l-3cm long, finely hairy and cursed with a most pungent, foxy odour. Flowers solitary at the tips of the branches, pendulous, grey-blue bells 3-4cm long, slightly veined outside, more strongly so within and often with a startling orange ring at the base of the stamens. Northern India and Kashmir in mountain grassland at 2500-3000m.
