Authors: Benth.
A rather maligned species through confusion with the definitely inferior C. clematidea, but the real thing is distinct in size, habit and flower. It is a smaller, erect plant, seldom exceeding 30-40cm in height, and much tidier in growth with a few leafy branches near the base. Leaves ovate, l-2cm long and slightly hairy. Flowers solitary on leafless stems from the upper part of the plant, each one 2.5-3cm long, pale blue, purple veined within, elegantly funnel-shaped and quite different to the tubby bells of C. clematidea. Western Himalaya, Kashmir, in rocky habitats at 3000-4200m.
