Botanical Description

perennial to 30cm across or more. Leaves linear, 1-2.5cm long, usually deep green. Flowers 2.5cm or more in diameter, the ray florets varying from lavender to almost slatey blue, summer. South Africa (Natal) and Lesotho in the mountains above 2800m on summit plateau, in rocky, marshy grassland. Despite its harsh environment, not fully hardy in severe winters.
