chance hybrid between V. dumulosum and spinosum found by W.K. Aslet at the R.H.S. Gardens, Wisley, where he was Superintendent of the Alpine Department in 1966 and named for his wife. The plant favours V. spinosum but the leaves are blue-grey downy, and the flowers favour V. dumulosum. Flowering is profuse and prolonged and the plant surprisingly hardy. Although sterile it is easily increased by root cuttings.
