Trees were snapped and even ripped from the ground and power lines were damaged, thanks to Monday’s destructive weather.

The severe weather hit across Central Ohio.

“It was raining so hard you couldn’t even see the road. Then, we heard a really loud crack and a really loud bang and there is a pole over there and the whole top came off, and we could see the sparks,” said Tammy Shearn of Mt. Vernon.

In Mt. Vernon, neighbors are thankful no one was crushed along State Route 13.

"I was just scared somebody was going to be under the tree. This is State Route 13 and it is busy," she said.

The downed tree shut the route down. ABC6/FOX28 spotted large trees and other property damage all over the Mt. Vernon area.

"It’s scary," said Shearn. "It’s scary. It makes you pay attention to the warnings."

In downtown Delaware, there was similar damage. Police had to direct traffic Monday evening along West Central Avenue and even put out flares after the weather took down a large tree.

Other trees were snapped as rain continued to fall throughout the afternoon and evening, with seemingly non-stop lightning at times.

We saw fire crews sawing away at branches entangled with power lines in front of Grady Memorial Hospital.

In Knox County, ODOT crews were out working on clearing debris and more. ABC6/FOX28 is told they were at work there and in Holmes County following stormy weather.

Dispatchers said Monday that trees and power lines were down all across their counties.
