Conservation Status
Identifying Features
The tulip poplars grow between 70 to 120 feet tall. It has light gray bark with white grooves.
The leaves are alternate and simple, between 6 and 10 inches long, and have four-pointed lobes.
Habitat & Range
Tulip poplars are native to the eastern United States, reaching as far west as Louisiana. They grow most commonly in moist forests.
Life Cycle
This tree’s flowers bloom from May to June and resemble a tulip. They are orange, yellow, and green in color and large in size. The seeds are between 1 to 2 inches and winged. The seeds are clustered in a 3 inch cone.
