Common Name: Upright European Hornbeam

A deciduous tree with a dense, shade-giving habit. Bark is gray and furrowed. Leaves are dark green, sharply toothed, and egg-shaped. Fall foliage is yellow to orange. 'Fastigiata' has a columnar form in youth and matures to an oval-vase shape.
