A detailed monograph about Wim Crouwel (born 1928), the graphic designer, typographer, and exhibition designer who defined the look of post-war Holland with his studio Total Design. His modernism was reflected in countless posters and catalogues for the Stedelijk Museum, in stamps and in experimental work like his 1967 New Alphabet. In the 1970s Crouwel became the focus of criticism but has emerged in the twenty-first century as a cult figure and an inspiration.
