Medicinal

The related species Clematis columbiana has been used in the traditional medicine of the Native Americans. A poultice of the pounded, dampened leaves has been applied to the feet to treat sweaty feet. A cold infusion of the plant can be used as a lotion on swollen knees and ankles.
