“DIE ANTWOORD IS DEAD” is a non-album single by Die Antwoord. It is their first to be produced by Naald. The song was intended to announce the band’s retirement, but, shortly after releasing the song, they posted that they had changed their minds:
From the beginning we always said Die Antwoord would only ever make 5 albums, then we would end the band. After we finished our 5th album we decided to make a special goodbye song dedicated to all our zef fans, called DIE ANTWOORD IS DEAD.
But when we finished the song, we thought: ‘F**k this track is so sick! How can we end this band? We can’t, it’s too cool! So the funny thing is, because of a song called DIE ANTWOORD IS DEAD we decided to keep Die Antwoord alive. We tried to kill it, but it just wouldn’t die😛.
On a personal level this song represents the end of an old DA adventure and the beginning a new one 💫
