BROWNS SUMMIT - Robert Samson Morehead of 1713 Brent Road died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1993, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

A native of Rockingham County, he was a retired employee for the City of Greensboro, and was currently employed at Sears Logistic Service. At his church, he was vice-chairman of the Deacon Board, assistant superintendent of the Sunday School Department, and a member of the Male Chorus. He was also a former member of the Fairgrove Baptist Church, Summerfield. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Johnny M. Alston Sr., son of the late Robert and Allie Alston of Kingstree, S.C., entered this world March 31, 1940, and went home to be with Jesus on Dec. 13, 1993.
He was an employee with the City of Greensboro for many years until his declining health forced him into an early retirement. He loved to sing and did so for many years with a group named The Sons of Zion. He will be missed by all who loved him.
His leaves to celebrate his home going his wife, Reather; four sons, Gary, Jeffrey, Johnny Jr., and Tyrone, all of Greensboro; one daughter, Cynthia Alston of Atlantic City, N.J.; one sister, Mrs. Suzanna Vaughn of Southern Pines; one brother, Joseph Alston of Kingstree, S.C.; a daughter-in-law, Tonya Alston; two grandchildren, Tyrone Jr. and Paris of Greensboro; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives.

In the midst of life, there is death. On the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 14, 1993, God decided to call a good soldier home from the battle.
Frederick Glover was born Sept. 24, 1939, in Chatham County to the late Arthur Glover and Edna Crutchfield. He attended the Chatham County Schools of Siler City.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Nancy Brooks Glover; daughter, Sonja Brooks of Staley; two sisters, Ida Bowden of Siler City, and Hattie Glover Marsh of Bear Creek; two brothers-in-law, Vernell Marsh and Ralph Bowden; two aunts, Novella Mauldin and Arzelle Wiley; his beloved grandchildren, Asheigh Brooks and Trenna Brooks of Staley; a special friend, Louise Rush; and seven foster children.

She was born in Kinston Nov. 13, 1904, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Koontz Cade. She was retired from Burlington Mills. She was married to Kirk Teague who died in 1941.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Edith Teague Winfree of Delmar, Del.; and one son, Victor Teague of Kernersville; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

OAK RIDGE - Mr. James Edwin Bear III, 56, of 5200 Saddlebrook Road died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1993, at N.C. Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem.
Mr. Bear was born June 1, 1937, in Richmond, Va. to James Edwin and Margaret White Bear. A 1960 graduate of Davidson College, Mr. Bear was employed by DuPont in Greensboro for the past 33 years as a Textile Fibers Engineer. He was a lifelong barbershop singer and a member of the Winston Salem Barbershop Chorus. He served on the steering committee for the N.W. Guilford Presbyterian New Church Development.

Mr. Strickland was a native of Loggin County, W. Va., and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired salesman with Chandler Wholesale Barbeque Company. He was in fellowship at Shannon Hills Bible Chapel, where he had served as a Sunday School teacher and one of the original deacons.
He is survived by his wife, Velma S. Strickland; daughter and her husband, Harvey and Carolyn S. A native of Chapel Hill, she was a retired pharmacist. She was the first female graduate of the UNC School of Pharmacy and was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

ASHEBORO - William C. Millington, 76, of 2359 South Lake Drive died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1993, at his home.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19 at Pugh Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. William Poulous.
A native of New York, he was retired from Western Electric, a member of Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Greensboro, and Sedgefield Civitan Club in Greensboro.
Surviving are wife, Mrs. Cledith Carnes Millington; daughters, Betty Buck of San Antonio, Texas, Patricia Westrick of Garland, Texas; son, William G. Millington of Montville, Va.; brother, Gilbert Millington of Pineknoll Shores; three stepchildren; four grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the the funeral home.

MARY EVELYN ADKINS
Mary Evelyn Adkins, 92, of 1404 Vine St. died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1993, at her home.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Westminster Gardens.
Born in Rockingham County, she was a homemaker and member of Newlyn Street United Methodist Church.
Surviving are son, Nathanial Jackson Adkins of Greensboro; sister, Annie Wagoner of Asheboro; grandchildren, Janice Louise Kaminc; great-grandchildren, James I. Alberty III, Derek A. Cowan, Ginger L. Alberty. Predeceased are daughter, Helena Catherine Kaminc; granddaughter, Nancy Evelyn Cowan.

LENOIR - Mr. Edward R. McGimpsey Sr., 73, of 532 Main St. N.W. died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1993, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Saint Paul AME Church, Lenoir. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 6-7:30 p.m. tonight at Ebony Funeral Services, Lenoir.
Surviving are wife, Hazel Crisp McGimpsey; two son, Billie Joe Surratt of Cincinnati, Edward R. McGimpsey II of Morganton; three daughters, Sina Reid of Baltimore, Edna Norwood of Charlotte, Dottie Burch of Plantation, Fla.; two brothers, Henry McGimpsey, Robert McGimpsey Sr., both of Morganton; two sisters, Nettie McIntosh of Morganton, Christine McDonald of Greensboro; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
