Very hardy, spring-flowering plant with finely divided, feathery, hairy, pale green leaves. Flowers appear before foliage opens. Very interesting bloom when most of the garden is barren. Plant in well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Good rock garden plant. Silky plants for the rock garden or dry bank. Plant with campanula carpatica, geranium sanguinea or cinereum, dianthus, armeria, dwarf iris, and aubrieta.
