Native violet with low-growing, spreading dark purple heart-shaped leaves and light blue flowers.  Will self seed. Plant in part to full shade in average to moist soil. Great contrasting foliage groundcover plant for shade around bright yellow hosta, and lysmachia nummularia, or Scotch moss. Plant under shrubs and around trees in shady areas.
