Campanula poscharskyana ‘Blue Gown’

Campanula poscharskyana ‘Blue Gown’

Blue Gown Serbian Bellflower

“Simplest of blossoms! To mine eye

Thou bring’st the summer’s painted sky.”

“The Harebell” David Mcbeth Moir 1798-1851

A small growing and tidy form of the Serbian Bellflower which carries sprays of clear mauve blue, white eyed, star shaped flowers over deep green foliage from spring until well into summer. ‘Blue Gown’ will grow happily in either sun or shade, even quite dense shade. Whilst it will do better with a extra watering during dry periods ‘Blue Gown’ is fairly tolerant of drought. Height 10-12cm width 30cm.

Moir’s harebell is the bluebell of Scotland, Campanula rotundifolia. This bellflower also grew in the meadows around the East Midland’s village of Lambley where David Glenn was born and raised.
