Verbena hastata ‘Blue Spires’

This widespread native of the United States is an easy plant to grow in the garden where it will often self sow. Verbena hastata can grow 120cm tall but in our garden rarely makes more than 90cm. It has elegant heads of mauve blue flowers on thin stems for most of late spring and summer. Happy in any sunny spot but needs a little summer irrigation in dry years like the one we’ve just had. 90cm by 50cm.
