White Drumstick Primula A really beautiful, white form of the drumstick primrose, Primula denticulata var. alba is a clump-forming, deciduous perennial with finely-toothed, slightly hairy, strap-shaped, pale-green leaves which form a basal rosette. Pure white, flattened, bell-shaped flowers with yellow ‘eyes’ form a spherical ‘drumstick’ at the top of strong, upright, mealy stems. Lovely planted in drifts in moist borders, it is also good for underplanting shrubs, and in bog gardens. White drumstick primula should be dead-headed to the base to prolong flowering. Site: Tolerates exposureSoil: Moist, humus-rich, neutral to acid soil; poorly drained soilPosition: Full sun or partial shadeSeason of interest: Late March to MayHardiness: Very hardyHeight: 1’ (30cm) Spread: 1’ (30cm)
