cartoonist Bill Mauldin’s Willie and Joe, the icons of World War II, remembering the fallen of their war, and all wars, on today, the American Veterans’ Day.

With them I remember those who have crossed the Bifrost Bridge on their way to Valhalla: my Grandfather Sparks, WWI; my Uncle Lysle Pierce, WWII; my Father, Wayne Pierce; my Cousin, Jim Miller, Vietnam.  And I think with gratitude of those still here: the veterans of the American War in Vietnam; Somalia; Iraq, and Afghanistan, all my family, friends, and fans who have served and continue to serve.
