Olympian Marion Jones at UNCA

Track star Marion Jones fell from the spotlight in 2007, after admitting to using performance enhancing drugs and giving back her Olympic medals. She spoke to athletes at UNCA Tuesday, saying she supports a drug-free sport.

Jones was at the university as a keynote speaker for this year's Our Turn to Play luncheon in the Kimmel Arena. The event celebrated 40 years of Title IX, ensuring equal opportunities for women in college sports. Marion was emotional talking about how women athletes helped paved the way for her success.

News 13 sat down with Jones, who said she supports only a drug-free sport. She said she'd moved on from her mistakes, after spending six months in jail for lying to federal prosecutors about using performance enhancing drugs.

"After I made my poor choices," said Jones, "And went to prison and all that stuff, I could have disappeared off the face of the earth. Probably a lot of people wanted me to do that. But, I felt that I had a story to share, and that people can learn from my mistakes."
