Erica x darleyensis 'Darley Dale' is vigorous, mat-forming, low-growing, long-blooming, evergreen shrub with stiff, glossy, green, needle-like leaves, tipped creamy in summer. A profusion of urn-shaped, pale pink to bright lilac-pink flowers bloom abundantly from November to April. Very attractive to bees. Erica x darleyensis 'Darley Dale' is a tough plant, adaptable to a wide range of soil types, but prefers sandy or rocky, unimproved, slightly acidic, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. In hot summer areas, some shade is appreciated. Resistant to frost, exposed positions, and coastal conditions. Generally, pest-free and disease-free. Low maintenance plant, doesn’t require pruning, but some pruning will make it neater and bushier. Heather 'Darley Dale' is a beautiful, resilient, easy to grow, long-flowering shrub, perfect as a groundcover in informal, cottage, coastal and gravel and rock gardens. Excellent for banks and slopes, beds and borders, and garden edging. Suitable for growing in containers. Great for adding some colour to winter gardens.

Arundel Arboretum is a shrub and tree retail nursery with over 40 years of experience.

About Us

During this time, we have developed a large stock of trees, mature evergreen shrubs, conifers, Japanese maples, cedars and olives. What sets us apart from a generic garden center is solid unwavering focus on trees and some bigger shrubs. You will find thousands of trees, hundreds of varieties and lots of experts who are working on the nursery and more than willing to help you to choose a plant for you.

What you will not find is hot tubs, garden furniture and plastic garden gnomes. In a nutshell, trees is what we know and trees is what we do, and only trees (and some shrubs to go with the trees).
