Following the spy photos that our shooters captured last week, Scion has officially introduced the iQ concept at the New York auto show.

For the show car, Scion tapped Five Axis of Huntington Beach, Calif., to put a customized spin on the iQ. A larger air dam dresses the front along with LED driving lights and darkened headlight housings. Out back, a rear diffuser, matte-finish rear taillights and a center-mounted trapezoid exhaust tip are added. The iQ concept rides on special 18-inch wheels.

The cabin features seats and door panels covered with iridescent green and gray upholstery with matte black polyurethane for the bolsters. Entertainment functions and navigation are controlled via a 10-inch color LCD touch screen. Movies can be projected on the monitor when the vehicle is parked.

Scion bills the iQ as a 3+1, meaning it can carry three adults and a child, or some luggage. If the decision is made to bring the iQ to the States, it will not be difficult as it is now on sale badged as a Toyota in Europe and Japan.

In stock form, the iQ is powered by a 1.3-liter four-cylinder producing 93 hp and 89 lb-ft of torque. The New York concept should have a little more spring in its step, thanks to the Five Axis custom stainless-steel exhaust. Handling is sharpened with a Tein coil-over suspension system.
