EAGLEHAWK’S Olivia Graham broke a Victoria country record when she hurled the hammer past the 55 metre mark in Sunday’s running of the Flack Advisory Bendigo Region athletics action at Flora Hill.

Graham’s best of 55.21m set a new Victoria country and Bendigo centre record for the under-18 age group.
South Bendigo’s John Justice and Joan Self added to their record-breaking run in the 10 th round of the Athletics Victoria shield competition run at the La Trobe University Bendigo athletics complex in Retreat Road.
Justice ran and won his 800m heat in a time of 3:05.16 which again broke the centre’s 80-plus record he previously held.
Self hurled the discus to a mark of 20.32m and holds the Centre record for the 60-plus class.
Despite the warm conditions there were many outstanding performances.
In the 800m, University’s Wil McCaig had a great duel with Bendigo Harriers’ Riley Osborne in heat one.
McCaig achieved a time of 2:04.51 as he won the race from Osborne in 2:05.38.
Other heat winners in the 800m were South Bendigo’s Aaron Norton, Glenhuntly’s Rebecca Beagley and Eaglehawk’s Kevin Shanahan.
Fastest in the 100m duels were Fraser Symons from Old Melburnians in 11.97, and Eaglehawk’s Niah Langtree in 12.97.
Bendigo Harriers’ Anne Buckley showed plenty of mental toughness as she completed the 5000m, a 12-lap duel in 21.41, as University’s Craig Green won the 3000m in 11:07.
At high jump, Eaglehawk’s Denise Snyder soared above the 1.70m mark.
South Bendigo’s Emma Berg reigned supreme at shot put, 13.95m, and Mackenzie Cooper from Bendigo Harriers put the shot to a mark of 10.22m.
Collingwood’s Isabella Simonelli won a closely-fought discus contest from Emma Berg as both achieved bests of 42.24m and 41.82m.
A great day for Fraser Symons included victory in the discus, 29.67m.
Best at triple jump were Chelsea Tofful from Bendigo Harriers, 10.08m, and clubmate Jeremy Vaughan at 9.94m.
A big weekend of competition included the Australian Masters decathlon and heptathlon championships, which also doubled as the Victorian titles across 10 and seven disciplines.
Athletics Victoria shield action at Bendigo’s track is from 5.30pm this Friday.
