Tall thumbleweed/windflower are native to most of the east coast and have a striking flower with a very long bloom season followed by fun and fluffy seed heads. It is most often found at the woodland edge but can handle varying sun and soil. Anemone virginiana is deer resistant can be used by itself or as a thick groundcover under trees. It is helpful to use as a ground cover to combat invasives because it is allelopathic. Insects tend to utilize this plant for pollen.
