DescriptionThis is a piece I picked up from Greg "Craola" Simkins latest show, "Piper's Pass".It is called "Chez and Mitts" and is 20x24in.It is among the finest graffiti works I have ever seen. It says Craola twice in the piece.Chez and Mitts (a play on Puss in Boots) is one of the Cheshire cats in The Outside. As a Cheshire cat, his favorite thing is to invite individuals from other worlds into The Outside. Over walls, through rabbit holes, down wells, through creeper ivy and mirrors, Chez has many tricks that can set one off on their hero's journey. Here is some insight into how the piece was created.. When I do this sort of graffiti piece on a panel, I begin by spray painting layers of tags, alternating colors to give it the look of a wall that has been around for a while and that many have tagged on. I sand between layers and build up letters in various spots until I am ready to add the weathering layers of thin acrylic paint that give it that "wall" look. In this show, these are the words and names I wrote over and over again. There is a lot of hidden imagery in this one. For instance, when it was explained to me about the egg Chez is holding, Greg had this to say... The egg is a “call back” and tie in to all the eggs throughout the show. The main story line in “Piper’s Pass” is that the knights and minstrels are safely transferring the abandoned Dragon Bird eggs (the large birds in The Outside are the Descendants of dragons) to a safe place. They are protecting these vulnerable eggs from Jacob Sneill (The Night Knight from the Pearl Thief). Social/Sharing |

So cool that there are various techniques and levels of sharpness that looks like computer art.
