Sacha Baron Cohen picked up an award as Ali G last night at the British Comedy Awards - wearing a Jimmy Savile tracksuit.

The actor was presented with the prestigious Outstanding Achievement gong dressed in a gold outfit with 'Savile' written on the back.

Having resurrected his infamous character Ali G for the first time since 2004, it comes 13 years after he won best newcomer at the event.

Accepting his statue from Sir Ben Kingsley, Baron Cohen - as Ali G - said: "I is grown up now. I ain't living in my nan's house anymore. I am living in her garage.

"Can you believe it's been ten years since I's been on the telly? Times has been tough means me now well skint. These day I has got to buy me tracksuits from second hand shops. Look."

He turned round to reveal the Savile tag and joked: "I ain't ever heard of this label."

The 41-year-old controversial star also said: "Nuff sadness since the events of 7/11 - the name of a chain of U.S. convenience stores."

He was joined by wife and former Home And Away actress Isla Fisher, who he has two daughters with - Olive, 5, and Elula, 2.

The pair were engaged for six years and married in a low-key ceremony in Paris in 2010.

Other winners included Harry Hill for Best Comedy Entertainment Programme with TV Burp, Male TV comic Lee Mack and Jack Whitehall as 2012's King Of Comedy.
