It was a debut match for both the 170lbs fighters. Thompson opened up with his high-volume kicks and punches. Stittgen could not retaliate the hard strikes. With his impressive kickboxing skills, Thompson landed a vicious right high kick to Stittgen’s jaw in the first round of the fight. Stittgen fell to the ground unconscious, and the match officially ended at 4:13 of the first round.
Wonderboy vs Chris Clements
The 38-year-old faced his first UFC loss against Matt Brown at UFC 145. However, Thompson quickly improved his wrestling skills for his next match against Nah-Shon Burrell and proved his haters wrong by defeating the latter at UFC 160 via majority decision.
Coming off a win against Burrell, Thompson went to war against the Canadian fighter Chris Clements in a three-round scrap at UFC 165. Thompson landed a straight right hand followed by a combination of vicious punches and knocked out Clements in the second round of the fight.
Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson vs Robert Whittaker
Thompson was at the peak of his career with a 20-0 record in kickboxing. He was on a two-win streak in UFC when he faced Robert Whittaker at UFC 170. Meanwhile, Whittaker was coming off a loss and was looking to prove his position on the welterweight roster.
Whittaker did it all to withstand the heavy strikes landed by Thompson. However, he could not handle the aggression of the American fighter. Thompson finished Whittaker by a heavy jab to the head, followed by vicious punches in the first round of the bout.
First-Round Knockout by the American Native
Wonderboy was on the American Top Team in The Ultimate Fighter 21 series on July 12, 2015. Thompson was on an amazing four-win streak when he squared off against Ellenberger in the series finale. The American native pulled off one of his best performances in the fight in his UFC career.
Ellenberger almost knocked out Thompson in the opening exchanges. However, Thompson quickly bounced back and finished Ellenberger with an impressive spinning kick to the head in the first round of the bout.
Continuing His Win Streak

The ‘Wonderboy’ was already a prominent name in the promotion. He was on a five-win streak when he faced Hendricks inside the octagon on February 6, 2016. Meanwhile, the former welterweight champion was looking to cement his position in the gold strap race.
However, he was denied a comeback after Thompson defeated him in the first very first round of the bout. Wonderboy landed a spinning back kick and rained down his vicious hands on the former champion. It took only 3:31 minutes for Thompson to end the fight.
