Dough:

100g caster sugar

200g unsalted butter

275g plain flour

100g malt powder

25g milk powder

3 tbsp golden syrup

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and caster sugar until it becomes light and fluffy.
  3. Add the golden syrup to the butter and sugar mixture and mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the plain flour, malt powder, and milk powder. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until a dough forms. You may need to use your hands to fully incorporate the ingredients.
  5. Roll the dough into a ball and wrap it in plastic wrap. Refrigerate the dough for about 20-30 minutes to firm it up.
  6. After chilling, remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll it out on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm).
  7. Use cookie cutters to cut out biscuit shapes from the rolled dough and place them on the prepared baking tray. Leave some space between each biscuit as they will spread slightly during baking.
  8. Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for approximately 10-12 minutes or until they turn golden brown at the edges.
  9. Allow the biscuits to cool on a wire rack.
  10. While the biscuits are cooling, melt the milk chocolate either in a microwave or using a double boiler.
  11. Once the biscuits are completely cooled, dip them halfway into the melted chocolate and place them back on the wire rack to allow the chocolate to set.
  12. Once the chocolate has hardened, your malted milk biscuits are ready to enjoy!
  13. Store the biscuits in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
