Praecox is earlier than other summer blooming anemones. It often starts flowering already in early August and continues until end September. It has 40-60 cm long stalks with up to 15 flowers of deep pink colour, 4-6 cm wide. The outter petals are slightly darker which makes another interesting dimension of the bloom. 3-palmate basal leaves are mid to dark green, sharply toothed, sparsely hairy beneath.
Anemones, when planted in full sun, prefer light, sandy soil. In partial shade the soil has to be moist but well-drained. In any location provide fertile, humus-rich soil. They like slightly drier conditions before flowering in early summer, as well as in winter. Mulching is recommended in colder areas.Plants: Anemone hupehensis 'Praecox' - windflower
