Rich green, arrow-shaped leaves grow in clumps from white tubers producing pure white (or creamy white) flowers.
We think of them as flowers but in reality they are actually just leaves that look like unfolding cones. In the centre is a bright yellow spadix which bears the real flowers which mature into nutty seed pods.
This plant likes wet and boggy conditions and will even grow in shallow water, though it is not neccessary as it thrives in normal conditions too.
If planted in normal soil then keep it well watered and it will reward you by being evergreen.
