Campanula trachelium is a rhizomatous perennial with an erect, bushy growth habit.
The tall stems have alternate, nettle-like hairy leaves and rise above a base of rounder to reniform basal leaves.
The flowers are really pretty, they are tubular to funnel shaped with double and single forms. They are borne toward the top of the stems in mid to late summer in racemes of blue, lilac or white flowers.
These lovely perennials are quite tall, they add fullness and colour to the middle or back of garden borders. Because of their height they may need staking to prevent them toppling over.
