One of America's national treasures had a down year on the big screen, but an all-time great one in terms of bizarre acts

A few years ago, Shia LaBeouf seemed destined—guaranteed, even—to be the next great Hollywood superstar. He was the star of one of the biggest movie franchises ever (Transformers), girls loved him (even Selena Gomez!), and hell, he looked damn good in a suit. But in recent years Shia has aggressively and purposefully rejected his status as a clean-cut A-lister. Instead, he's dedicated his time to being anti—anti-everything, in fact. He's been arrested on more than occasion for public intoxication, he dresses in clothes that seem exclusively picked out of the dirty-clothes hamper, and he generally refuses to star in anything that features heavy CGI. And, to be honest, Shia's "F everything" attitude is part of why we love him.

However, the fact remains that 2015 was a particular strange year for LaBeouf, between the lack of actual acting, the continued public intoxication, and his commitment to performance art. But these 10 are the bizarre-est of all.

1. He got a tattoo of Tupac.

2. He yelled "America!" at Mount Rushmore.

3. He sported a rat tail.

4. He rap battled using (apparently) plagiarized lyrics.

5. He appeared in a Sia music video and did an interpretive dance.

6. He clapped for himself after a music video that claimed he was an actual cannibal.

7. He sat in a movie theater for 3 days watching all of his own movies, then invited people to join him.

8. He took phone calls from complete strangers.

9. He implored the youth to "just do it!"

10. Despite all that, he looked really great in a tuxedo.
