Erica Huggins has been promoted to president of Imagine Entertainment, the production company run by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Michael Rosenberg.
Huggins has been with Imagine since 2004, when she joined the company as senior vp motion pictures. She was promoted to exec vp in 2006 then to co-president of production in 2010.
Currently she is producing the James Brown biopic Get on Up, starring Chadwick Boseman, and is exec producing The Heart of the Sea, which is in production with Chris Hemsworth starring.

Among the movies Huggins has worked on are J. Edgar, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Clint Eastwood; Restless, directed by Gus Van Sant and starring Mia Wasikowska; Rush, directed by Howard and starring Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl; Flightplan, directed by Robert Schwentke and starring Jodie Foster and Peter Sarsgaard; and the music documentaries Made in America and Katy Perry: Part of Me.
“For nearly 10 years Erica has proven to have true talent as a filmmaker,” said Grazer. “She has been a valued part of the Imagine team in helping design film strategy for our future. Her unique sensibility and tenacity with writers, directors and studio executives has served Imagine well.”
Said Howard, “Working closely with Erica over the years I can attest to her impeccable taste, her love of books, and her unique ability to work closely with talent. She never gives up on something she believes in.”
“Erica’s credits speak to her love of both film and television but most of all she believes in the power of great taste and has continued to make that the driving force of Imagine’s development slate. She is a natural leader and wonderful choice to continue to keep imagine relevant,” added Rosenberg.
Huggins had an interesting start for an executive. She began her career as a film editor, working on several John Waters films, including Hairspray, Cry-Baby, and Serial Mom. She also edited Michael Cimino‘s The Sicilian and Desperate Hours.
