Chaenomeles X Suberba Etna, commonly known as ‘Japanese Flowering Quince’, is a deciduous, medium sized, compact shrub.  It has spiny arching branches along which mid green leaves provide an ideal backdrop for the abundance of cup shaped, red flowers.  These fade and are later followed by fragrant edible greenish-yellow fruits, often used in the making of preserves. A suitable addition to the garden for planting against a wall or fence.

Looking After Your Chaenomeles X Superba Etna

Generally pest and disease free the Chaenomeles X Superba Etna is an easy to grow deciduous flowering shrub in many if not all locations.  A low maintenance shrub which can benefit from a sunny or partially shaded area in all types of garden.   Plant in a fertile, moist, but well drained soil, applying a good quality general purpose fertiliser early Spring to help promote strong, fresh new growth during the coming season.
