AGASTACHE urticifolia Nettleleaf Horsemint is a perennial herbaceous plant in the mint family (Lamiaceae). It is native to western North America, where it grows in prairies, meadows, and open woods. This long lived flowering plant of mint family have leaves of triangular and sharp tooth shape. Bright purple flowers with pink and purple shades in corollas manifest the beauty of land.
Nettleleaf Horsemint grows to a height of 1 to 3 feet (30 to 90 cm) and has square stems that are covered with fine hairs. The leaves are lance-shaped, toothed, and have a texture similar to that of nettle leaves, hence the common name "Nettleleaf." The leaves and stems are highly aromatic and give off a strong minty scent when crushed. The plant produces spikes of tubular flowers that are lavender to pink in color and bloom from mid-summer to early fall.
