‘Take Somebody’s Help and Get Out’: Hurricane Idalia Floods Florida Town

A father and daughter rescue team warned residents of Crystal River, Fla., to evacuate as floodwaters started to rise after Hurricane Idalia made landfall.

“Out here on these lower grounds, where some of our family lives, it’s pretty bad. It’s in homes, it’s under campers. It’s taken over — I mean, the pools are underwater. I mean, it’s all the way over people’s homes right now. They got a couple feet on the inside. A lady’s dogs are still in the house. But she wasn’t ready to get out of there, and she was concerned about leaving her dogs.” “If you’re not getting out now, it’s going to be tough to even get somebody to get you out. I mean, it’s bad. It’s really bad. Man, take somebody’s help and get out of there.” “If you have the option now before high tide hits, I would get out now, because it’s only going to get worse. It’s going to rise extremely quickly. So now should be your chance.”
