Verbena hastata / Blue Vervain

Verbena hastata is a consistently well-performing herbaceous perennial in the Hudson Valley. Spear shaped flower stalks bloom purple July-September and are attractive to butterflies. Traditional herbalists use Blue Vervain as a nervine and to calm the body. Blue Vervain grows 2 to 6 feet tall with a 1 to 2.5 foot spread. Plant in full sun in medium to wet soils.
