This stylish perennial, produces upright, blue stems, topped with dramatic thistle-like blooms. The flower heads are cone shaped, surrounded by a lacy collar of spiky bracts, making a superb architectural focal point in borders. Eryingium alpinum is ideal for grouping between shorter perennials in sunny, well drained borders. It copes particularly well with coastal conditions and makes a spectacular cut flower.
