It has been pretty hot, but it has been good for our garden. Our plants are large and healthy, and we have been eating cucumbers, lettuce, zucchini, peppers and herbs. We planted our tomatoes a little late this spring, so they are just coming on right now. It looks like we’ll have a great vegetable garden this year, as long as this very warm and sunny weather continues.

When people ask me about the best flowers to grow, I almost always start with daylilies. Daylilies are arguably the easiest, most versatile and rewarding flowers one can grow. They tolerate a wide range of soil conditions and once established can be quite drought resistant. Few pests bother them, and they are quite winter hardy.
