L'oeil au beurre noir Print

I am inspired by melancholy and states of mind, as reflected through the face. In this painting, I used bigger brushes and immediate gestures, to give a raw portrait. I went in the face with color blocking, 3 colors to block off various shadows, and divide them in simpler form. I brushed the remainder of the paint on both sides of the portrait to give an ode to the materiality I used. The clouds express a puerile way ofmarkmaking, quick lines with a certain amount of paint. the rain is expressed simply, through putting water downand adding a darker ink at the top, to let the ink work on it's own.
