These are complemented with strap-like foliage that is variegated cream and green. It grows as a clump to about 40 cm tall and 30 cm wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of moderate frost, dry periods, and coastal environments. It does not cope with heavy soils or prolonged wetness. ‘Variegatum’ is commonly included in cottage gardens, added to mixed plantings and borders, maintained in a container, planted around outdoor living area, or used anywhere the beauty of this plant can be enjoyed. A mass planting will give a very rewarding display with this tidy plant.
