It is tolerant of moderate frost, dry periods, and coastal environments. It does not cope with heavy soils or prolonged wetness. ‘Variegatum’ is commonly included in cottage gardens, added to mixed plantings and borders, maintained in a container, planted around outdoor living area, or used anywhere the beauty of this plant can be enjoyed. A mass planting will give a very rewarding display with this tidy plant.
