“Gumball” is a small tree grown for its form and fantastic autumn colours. This popular ornamental tree features leaves that emerge lime green in spring, darken during summer, then change to a myriad of orange-red and dark purple colours in autumn before falling. The autumn display is truly magnificent. It typically grows to 3 m tall and 2 m wide and can be trimmed as necessary. Best results with this tree are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, moderately sheltered site, noting that it is tolerant of frost and cool climates. “Gumball” makes a fantastic specimen and is perfect for avenue planting, maintaining in a courtyard garden, or including anywhere a fabulous tree with spectacular autumn colour is desired.
