Wizz Air, the London-listed airline, expects to make a profit of between €350 million and €450 million this year after reporting strong summer bookings and promising increased investment in its operations.

The Hungarian low-cost airline’s return to profit would be a huge improvement on the loss for the year to the end of March that it reported yesterday, which came in at €535 million, although this was down on the previous year’s loss of €642 million.

Jozsef Varadi, the airline’s chief executive, said he was confident in delivering his forecasts after spending much of the past year building a better, more operationally resilient business including more spare aircraft and spare parts along with extra pilots and cabin crew.
