Castanea sativa 'Aspleniifolia' Castanea sativa 'Aspleniifolia'

Fagaceae

Castanea sativa 'Aspleniifolia' Castanea sativa 'Aspleniifolia'

A tree with a broad and rounded crown that grows irregularly. Height 15 - 20 (25) m. The shape of the leaf differs radically from that of the species. The leaf is linear to elongated, with irregular deep incisions and is sharply serrated. Sometimes it is linear to lanceolate. The narrowest leaves, generally at the top of the summer shoots, are approx. 1 cm wide. It can happen regularly that the leaves 'revert' to assume the shape of those of the species. The dark green leaves are very glossy. Young leaves carry velvety hairs on the underside. Occasionally light-green to yellow spots occur on the green leaf. The flowers and fruit are similar to those of the species. Winter hardiness zone: 6a
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from November 2024.
