The trailer has released for Shia LaBeouf's biopic, Honey Boy

The 32-year-old actor has co-written the script for a new film about his life and career. The biopic will bring to the screen an intimate and personal account of his experiences as a child star, documenting the scandals that have surrounded him and the lead up to his own existential crisis. Instead of playing himself in the film, Shia LeBeouf will take on the role of his alcoholic father. Here's everything we know so far.

In a bold move, Shia LaBeouf is co-directing a biopic retracing the life of his young Hollywood career as a child-star. The 32-year-old actor evidently met with struggles during his quick rise to fame, and like many child movie stars, succumbed to depression and the overuse of alcohol. LaBeouf has decided to use his eventful life as the subject for his upcoming movie Honey Boy, which will tell the story of his upbringing complete with a portrayal of his abusive father. In yet another daring move, the actor will be playing his father rather than himself. In the role of young Shia, Lucas Hedge (Manchester by the Sea, Lady Bird) has been chosen to play the difficult role.
