The tracks crossing Randbøl Hede are part of "Hærvejen" or the "Ox road", an old network of tracks and roads running from Viborg in Denmark to Hamburg in Germany. It is not unlikely that this exact spot is where king Valdemar II (The Victorious) passed on his wild ride in 1212 to Ribe where queen Dagmar was mortally ill.
