Jane, often called the Nine-Day Queen, was imprisoned in the Tower on 19 July 1553, along with her husband, the Duke of Northumberland who was executed on 22 August 1553. In September, Parliament declared Mary the rightful successor and denounced and revoked Jane's proclamation. She was executed on the 12th February 1554.
